The final feature race of the season – The City Of Port Louis Cup, sees eight runners lining up over the 1365 metres. For some runners, 2019 has been a genuine season while for the rest; it is a chance to end a disappointing campaign on a high with the hope of a vastly improved 2020 season.

On the back of being crowned Champion Trainer in the Attitude Hotels International Jockeys Weekend 2019, Preetam Daby will bid to end the season on a high by taking out this feature race. Representing him is HENRY TUDOR (Dinesh Sooful), who has had 2 wins and 2 second place finishes in 6 races this season. Compared to his last run, he will appreciate running over the shorter trip and it is correct to say that he has a strong chance of landing his third win of the season.

VIRTUE (Jeanot Bardottier) has confirmed the promise that he showed at the back end of last season. In 7 attempts, he has struck twice and popped up on the podium 4 times. He was found to be severely lame following his previous attempt, but he looks to have recovered swiftly, based on his recent workouts. His chances in this race must be taken seriously.

LANZA (Brandon Louis) made his debut on Duke Of York Cup day. He has benefited from that run and still remains in fresh condition. He should be right in the mix here.

A place getter in the Duchess Of York Cup and Derby Trial, PERA PALACE (Swapneel Rama) made it third time lucky, winning from start to finish. He has not come close since, finishing unplaced in each of his last five races. He has showed up well in his recent gallops and improvement is forthcoming from him.

ALAADEL (Vijay-Anand Bundhoo) made his seasonal debut in the 31st meeting, landing 6th, 3.3 lengths behind Henry Tudor. In better shape and form, he will also appreciate running over the 1365 metres and is not prevented from making his presence felt.

CHILI CON CARNE’S (Nishal Teeha) form has fallen off the cliff in the second part of this season. He has been unplaced in each of his last four attempts, while his last win dates back to last year’s Barbe Cup meeting. In this average looking field though, he can crack the placings.

ARGO SOLO (Roby Bheekary) and ZUD WES (Nooresh Juglall) complete the line-up, and based on their recent forms, both are rated as just outsiders.
