SUPERMARE Goldikova broke the European record for Group/Grade 1 wins by posting her 11th top-flight success, beating Paco Boy for a fourth time.

Olivier Peslier led early on with Goldikova, but was content to let Regal Parade take over a couple of furlongs out.

Peslier was always in control, though, and had a bit in hand over Paco Boy, who, asusual, finished with a flourish.

He beat Richard Hannon-trained stablemate Dick Turpin, with Regal Parade holding on for fourth. Also in the prize-money was Joanna.

Having surpassed Miesque's ten Group/Grade 1 wins, albeit with the help of races that were not accorded top-flight status in Miesque's day (and which she won), Goldikova will now have her sights set on going one better than Miesque at the Breeders' Cup too.

She was already hot favourite to win a third Breeders' Cup Mile before Sunday's cosy success, and was cut to as low as 5-4 (from 7-4) by Bet365 for the November 6 Churchill Downs contest.

Paco Boy and Dick Turpin both ran well, as did Regal Parade, but Peslier was superb on Goldikova, not panicking after Regal Parade went to the front, and managing not to givehis mount a particularly hard race with the Breeders' Cup in mind.

Trainer Freddie Head, who also rode Miesque, said: "She's great, she's extraordinary. What can I say? I was very scared about the going, it was really touch and go whether to run.

"Olivier rode a great race but she is fantastic."

Head added that this was probably Goldikova's last race in France.

Peslier said: "It was wonderful, to win like [that] today and 11 Group 1s. With Paco Boy all this season it has been a nice fight.

"Today I have a lot of respect for her to win like that. She's the best filly and, I think, the best horse."

Richard Hannon jnr, assistant trainer of the runner-up and third, said: "They both ran super races. We are very pleased, but Goldikova just keeps getting in the way. We were a little unlucky with the draw as that cost us ground."

He added: "We'll sleep on the Breeders' Cup Mile for Paco, while Dick Turpin stays in training and gives us a lot to look forward to next year."
