OBAMA RULE, having only her third career outing, ran out a comfortable winner of the Group 3 Dance Design Stakes under an inspired ride from Declan McDonogh.

The 16-1 three-year-old upstaged the return of triple-Group 1 winner Lush Lashes, who was back in action following a 428-day racecourse absence.

McDonogh avoided some scrimmaging by coming with a storming run up the rail to catch long-time leader Shareen close home. Miss Laa Di Da, also a 16-1 shot, was third, making it a clean sweep for three-year-olds.

Five-year-old Lush Lashes, who was very weak in the market, momentarily looked as if she was going to pose a threat approaching the two-furlong marker, but her effort soon petered out, while some interference hardly did her cause any favours.

However, the Jim Bolger-trained mare was far from disgraced, finishing fourth.

Winning trainer Joanna Morgan said: "We thought earlier in the year that a mile and a half would be her trip but every bit of work she has done she has got sharper.

"We were in two minds about running today because of the ground. She didn't handle the downhill part of the course.

"She's a very talented filly and she'll probably have another run somewhere."
