1st Race (0-15)

Even if it is an average field in this 1400 metre contest, there are numerous horses that are capable of striking. Villa Le Blanc is one of them and he was beaten by Black Gambit by half a length in his latest. He will be attempting to go one better this time round. Magic Jay had a difficult run throughout in his previous attempt. In this lower category, he should produce a bold bid. RUBY ROCKER finished in 6th in his last showing, although he did run out of galloping room in the final straight. He will be ridden once again by Jameer Allyhosain and from his good draw, he can make it. Stable mate Agincourt was not very far behind the winner in his recent attempt. In this contest, he merits respect. Marine Sky has been consistent throughout the season and should have his say in this, while the duo of Brazo and Pageantry has shown up well in training, and both horses can make the frame here.

Dangers: Villa Le Blanc, Magic Jay, Marine Sky

2nd Race (B.36)

After finishing runner-up to Ocean Drive South in the Princess Margaret Cup meeting, Sierra Redwood managed to go one better in his last outing. He remains on good terms with himself and he can double the score. Golden Ball was set off as favourite in his latest, but was second best to Chosen Path in the final reckoning. This genuine performer is in good order and from his plum draw, he can bounce back here. Galtero was good enough for 4th in his previous showing. He has shown progress at track work, and with his yard on a strong run of form, he merits serious consideration. PLAIN OF WISDOM finished strongly in his recent attempt, landing 2nd place behind Ice Run. Down a Benchmark, he remains in excellent condition and he is more than capable of going one better. Maxamore is back from a long rest and should finish in the lower placings.

Dangers: Golden Ball, Sierra Redwood, Galtero

3rd Race (B.41)

AFTER MIDNIGHT gets the vote in this Draper’s Mile contest. This Rameshwar Gujadhur-trained gelding has performed genuinely this season. He is in good shape and has also been drawn in the ace. Skip The Red is rated as his biggest danger. His last run saw him earn Brad Pengelly his first win in his first ride, after doing the same for Muzi Yeni in his second-to-last attempt. Freshened up, he can complete his hat-trick. Kalinago ended his long winless drought in race meeting 25. He remains in top order and has a good chance of doubling the score. Maestro’s Salute had no answer to Kurundu in his last start, although it was still a genuine attempt from him. If he can repeat that run, he can go one better. For the lower placings, Gameloft and Night Chapel are two good contenders.

Dangers: Skip The Red, Maestro’s Salute, Kalinago

4th Race (B.51)

CHARLESTON HERO had no problems in making it four wins in-a-row in his latest. He remains in the form of his life and his connections are expecting him to continue his winning run. Act Of Loyalty was set off as huge favourite in his previous run, but in the end, he ended up sharing second place with Unbridled Joy. Having showed satisfaction in his workouts, he is down a class and is rated as the biggest danger to the favourite. Stable mate Silver Snaffles did his best last time out. In top order, he is reunited with Jameer Allyhosain, who rode him to his first win on Barbe Cup day. Orange Tractor was a major disappointment on Maiden Cup day, and an improved showing is expected from him here.

Dangers: Act Of Loyalty, Silver Snaffles, Orange Tractor

5th Race (B.56)

Ryder Cup did what he could in race meeting 26. This time round, he is competing in Benchmark 56 and he should produce a competitive showing. CHOSEN DASH was the best of the rest behind Nordic Warrior in an elite race just two meetings ago. He is taken to open his account for the season in this contest. Psycho Syd’s last run must be ignored as it was too bad to be true. He showed nothing wrong in training and he is capable of bouncing back. Racing For Fun has either won or finished runner-up in his outings this season. He is a good finisher and with a strong pace expected, he will hard to resist in the concluding stages. Mystical Twilight tries his luck in a higher category, but based on what he has shown, he cannot be written off.

Dangers: Racing For Fun, Ryder Cup, Psycho Syd

6th Race – The Green Tea Mauricebay 100% Health Cup (b.66)

Only five runners in this 1650 metre contest and any one of them is capable of taking the honours in this. SEVEN FOUNTAINS was on the right side of a photo-finish involving himself and Lee’s Star in the 27th meeting. He will try his luck in a higher class, but as he remains in good form, he can confirm. Ready To Attack deserves another chance in this contest. He will appreciate running in this category and he is capable of bouncing back. Netflix produced his best showing yet on Mauritian turf just three meetings ago, when he was a close 3rd, just 0.3 lengths behind the winner. He will try his luck in a far higher category and with only 53.5 kg on his back, he can make it. Recall To Life remains winless this season, but it is worth noting that he has not finished far away in most of the big races. In this field, he should mount a bold bid. Stable mate Everest did his best in his latest, and he is not prevented from making his presence felt here.

Dangers: Recall To Life, Netflix, Ready To Attack

7th Race (B.31)

Ready For Take Off has been an ever-present on the podium recently. He still has a zero in his wins column, something he can rectify here. Stable mate Aspara would have been expected to do well in his debut season, as he arrived with a promising C.V. Nevertheless, he has been thereabouts in his last two attempts and having remained in good nick, he has a chance of breaking the ice. A P Strike has taken a long time to find his best form in Mauritius. His best result of 4th came in the 22nd meeting, before he made up some ground in his last outing. Well-trained, he is capable of striking in this. CARSON CITY has not disgraced himself this season and his last showing was his best yet, finishing strongly to take 2nd behind Bezamod. Drawn in the ace, the vote is given to him to go one better. My Boy Willie made up some ground in his latest and is not prevented from making his presence felt in this.

Dangers: Ready For Take Off, Aspara, A P Strike

8th Race (0-25)

Black Gambit produced a cracker in his return to competition by making an instant visit to the winner’s enclosure. He has benefited from that run and with Cedric Segeon steering him, his chances of confirming look good. Roman Silvanus was slightly unfortunate in last Saturday’s meeting, as he did not have the clearest of runs in the final straight. He has been entered again and he is capable of taking a step forward in this. Nadas performed honestly in his last attempt. This Ricky Maingard-trained horse will relish running in this lower class and from his perfect draw, he can run a cracker. NEW GOLDEN AGE showed bags of improvement in the 26th meeting. He finished in 4th, but only a length behind Without A Doubt. He looked in good form in his gallops and even from his wide draw, he can mount a bold bid here. Halabaloo and Commodus were not disgraced in their last races respectively. Both are worth considering here.

Dangers: Nadas, Black Gambit, Roman Silvanus
