Just five horses from four different yards line up in the feature race of this Saturday’s 30th meeting – The Green Tea Mauricebay 100% Health Cup. A very small field it is, but a glance at the participants suggests that an interesting race is in store and it is even fair to say that all five horses have a good chance of striking.

RECALL TO LIFE and EVEREST represent the yard of Gilbert Rousset, who have struck in two of the last three feature races.

After a purple patch in the winter of 2016, in which he won three elite races in succession, RECALL TO LIFE has not come close to winning since, except for a few place finishes. He has competed against very tough opponents in Classic and Group races during that time, and it is fair to say that he has not been totally outclassed in all of his attempts. He will relish running in this category and with the promising Jameer Allyhosain riding him, he can mount a bold bid here.

Stable mate EVEREST will have the in-form Rye Joorawon on board. This grey horse is making his eighth start of the season, having finished on the podium on three occasions, including in his latest. He looked well in his workouts and merits tons of respect in this.

After a difficult week, the tandem of Yashin Emamdee and the yard of Rameshwar Gujadhur will be looking for some cheer here, and SEVEN FOUNTAINS is more than capable of providing it. He scored a last-gasp win in his previous attempt, doing just about enough to pip Lee’s Star at the death. He remains in good nick and can double the score.

The winner of the season’s first classic READY TO ATTACK (Steven Arnold) represents Ramapatee Gujadhur’s yard, and he will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing showing in the Group 2 Mauritius Union Group Colonel Draper Cup. He looked in good shape at track work, and is not prevented from renewing with success here.

The Vincent Allet-trained NETFLIX (Swapneel Rama) completes the line-up. This son of Tiger Ridge had arrived with a good reputation, but it is fair to say that he has disappointed. He did show a lot of improvement in his previous attempt, when he finished 3rd, only 0.3 lengths behind the aforementioned Seven Fountains. He remains well and even in this higher category, he can make it all the way.
